The North East Wildlife & Animal Rescue Centre is a small independent Charity, based just outside Ellon, Aberdeenshire.

We are a sanctuary and haven for many unwanted, abused and abandoned pets, including horses, goats, pigs, sheep, rabbits, guinea pigs, hens and ducks. Our particular interest is in wildlife rehabilitation, and we have many years experience in hand-rearing orphan birds, and dealing with orphaned and injured mammals.

For more information, including what we do, where we are, and how to contact us, please visit our about page.

THE NEW ARC

The four collared doves we have at the moment are good friends!
One was caught by dogs and had multiple injuries, another by a cat and had bite marks in the chest, one was found grounded and thin, and one fell from the nest at a young age.... and all are now doing great!

Edited post
We did not post this photo to distress people indeed it is sad, but no more gory an injury than when Cooper was alive. Had we not posted his photo we would (from experience) had received many, many comments and messaged asking for confirmation that it was him, whether the injury matched exactly etc etc
Sorry to those who found the picture upsetting but sadly it is part of our daily life, and if you follow our page something we very, very rarely do

Sadly, The New Arc has to report that the body of a young otter was recovered from some bog land near the River Lossie earlier today. There is no doubt that this is certainly the much loved 'Cooper' who hasn't been seen at the pond for several days. The New Arc would like to thank all those who have helped and offered assistance in attempting to catch and treat him. We are only sorry that we were unable to catch him in time to prevent such a sad result.

THE NEW ARC

As Giving Tuesday is nearly upon us, we would like to appeal to you for donations. You are aware that we have been fundraising for our new Accident and Emergency Unit, and we are thrilled to be able to show you our progress.
There is still a long way to go before we can open the doors (we don't even have a floor yet so safety first lol).
We have been so grateful for all the support we have received so far, and we are so excited to be at this stage with our new building. This will be such a fantastic facility for our wildlife
Please help if you can

Register as an animal ambulance

Would you like to volunteer your services as an animal ambulance for your area?

As and when we need someone to transport a sick or injured animal to The New Arc, we query our database of registered drivers and try to contact the nearest available volunteer to the patient.

The New Arc is based near Ellon, in Aberdeenshire. For an interactive map of where to find us, tap here.

What’s the commitment?

There is no commitment! We gratefully accept your offer to help if you are available at the time of asking. If you’re not available when called upon, that’s absolutely fine – we will try to contact another driver. It’s important to get as many volunteer drivers into our database as possible, so if you have family, friends, or neighbours who may be willing to help out, please do point them in the direction of this page!

Do volunteer ambulance drivers get paid?

Unfortunately, we are not currently able to offer any financial incentive, nor cover any expenses.

Ready to volunteer?

We hope you enjoy our site! Please do to visit us again - we will be updating regularly.

If you have any questions about animals, be it advice, wanting to find a new home for your pet, adoption or needing assistance with a rescue, please contact us either by telephone (0796 225 3867), Facebook, or contact form.  We look forward to hearing from you!
