The North East Wildlife & Animal Rescue Centre is a small independent Charity, based just outside Ellon, Aberdeenshire.

We are a sanctuary and haven for many unwanted, abused and abandoned pets, including horses, goats, pigs, sheep, rabbits, guinea pigs, hens and ducks. Our particular interest is in wildlife rehabilitation, and we have many years experience in hand-rearing orphan birds, and dealing with orphaned and injured mammals.

For more information, including what we do, where we are, and how to contact us, please visit our about page.

THE NEW ARC

What a difference a year makes <3 Remember this fellow? We named him "Arbuckle" as he arrived weighing in at 2.335kg which we believe made him at that point in time the Worlds Heaviest Hedgehog.
Our Arbuckle became quite famous in his own right, appearing in numerous newspapers, news clips and even via Skype with Russian tv
Well …. he has worked hard at his diet and yesterdays "weigh in" showed he had reached 1.27kg, a loss of over 1 KG !!
It was time for Arbuckle to leave, time for him to hunt for his own food and hopefully find a mate.
We wish him luck and we will of course leave food and water out just in case he gets midnight munchies 🙂

THE NEW ARC

Today we released 4 common gull babies who have been with us from only a few days old. (We also released another last week who had come in unable to walk!)
It was a fantastic release - all four went off flying and shouting, batheing and foraging for food. They were soon joined by adult gulls who will help them learn more skills for their new wild life 🙂 (video of release to come!)

THE NEW ARC

Many of our volunteers, past and present will be sad to hear that our Ritzi made her final journey to the vets yesterday. She had battled through various health issues over the past couple of years, but she wasn't happy to continue trying. We shall all miss Ritzi as she was such a sweetheart, but none of us will miss her climbing our legs when she insisted on being cuddled - well actually, yes I think we'll miss that too <3 ...

Why drink your milk when you can just nap in it?

Edit to add this is not cow's milk! Cow's milk should not be fed to mammals - there are a few different milks which work best to rear mammals.
